Important guidelines to be observed :
Your adherence to these guidelines is greatly appreciated and will contribute to the fairness and integrity of our process.
- Avoid indiscriminate copying: Refrain from directly copying material from the internet or any other sources without proper attribution or permission.
- Proper referencing: When referring to previously published content, it is essential to acknowledge the source. Ensure that your usage does not exceed 10% of the original work. However, you are allowed to reproduce complete quotes along with the author’s name.
- Original concept development: Do not rely solely on content copied from various sources to create your own concepts or ideas. It is recommended to use your intellectual capabilities to develop unique concepts.

- Plagiarism disqualification: Please be aware that any concepts, ideas, or abstracts identified during the plagiarism check or report will result in disqualification.
ABOUT US
TECHgium® is an open innovation competition which provides students an opportunity to work on major engineering challenges being faced by the industry today. The initiative was first launched by LTTS in 2016.The primary objective of the initiative is to ignite young minds and provide exposure to real challenges faced by the global industry, thereby making it more than just a project or a challenge. Through this platform, students will get an invaluable opportunity to work on futuristic technologies and augment the solution development team of LTTS, while getting recognized as a TECHgium® innovator. Importantly, LTTS is helping build a talent pool who will bring a practical solutions mindset to the industry and not limit it just to theory. Supporting them would be the faculty and top industry experts, thereby exposing them to the industry early in their career.
This contest is open for all engineering students across the world who are in their final & pre-final year of UG/PG program. Students from any disciplines / departments / streams may participate.
Registration is free of cost.
There are two steps of registration, 1st is the Institute Registration and 2nd is the Students registration. Institute registration should be done by the institute’s Dean/Placement officer/Director/Principal. Once the institution is registered and unique institute code is received, the unique code is to be shared to the students with which students can register in the TECHgium portal.
After the online registration by college & students,
fundamentally, innovative/novel ideas are the core
focus of our competition. So, once Institute &
students registration are successfully completed,
the innovative ideas must be implemented in the
following stages by qualified participants.
Stage 1: Concept/Idea submission for challenges
provided in the TECHgium portal.
Stage 2: Technical paper presentation (held online).
Stage 3: POC demonstration (held online).
Stage 4 : Finale Presentation [to identify top 3
winners]
You can participate either as an individual (1 member) or as a team (maximum team size: 4 members). There is no restriction on team configuration; team members can be from same or different department(s).
You can submit your idea/concept for the challenge statement provided in the portal. PLEASE NOTE: At this stage of the competition, you are not required to build a prototype/POC (proof of concept).
Your idea will be judged on the following criteria, in order of importance:
- Innovation/novel ideas
- Social Impact
- Technical Knowledge
- Completeness of prototype/POC
The organizer, assisted by L&T TS experts, along with independent external experts (Academic + Industry), will evaluate, filter, and select the best ideas/abstracts/concepts according to above mentioned criteria, which will be nominated/ promoted for the next rounds.
L&T TS will send an e-mail to your registered email ID which mentions your idea/concept being selected to next stage/rounds.
Once your idea/solution gets shortlisted for stage 2, you can start working towards the full Technical paper presentation of the idea/concept.
Presentation will be held online through Microsoft Teams/Zoom, shortlisted teams would be presenting the idea/concept in-detail to panel of judges.
In Stage 3, participants need to prepare a prototype/POC to show how their idea/concept could be executed in reality and submit short description and demo video (~ 3 minutes) to show the working of their prototype.
The following formats for building a prototype are accepted:
- Software – if it is a algorithm as the final output.
- Simulation/ Model.
- Hardware
- Implemented on hardware like vehicle, machine etc.,
L&T TS will send you an e-mail to your registered email ID with further information regarding the finale presentation.
Can be both practical and abstract. We would also like to see further value addition to the idea in terms of corroboration of idea / implementation plan / roadmap, etc.
Idea/Concept cannot exceed 300 words. Please do not go into extreme details of the concept. Those can be shared in the future rounds (full technical presentation), if selected. One of the criteria for selection of concept/idea/abstract is preciseness. Restricting to 300 words is even better.
You can attach images in jpeg and png format upto 1MB .
Although having an innovative aspect would have an edge, we encourage concepts and ideas of all kinds.
You may approach your faculty/mentor.
Yes, provided it is requested.
We plan for a training intervention/orientations for the contestants that qualify for technical presentation/POC rounds.
Yes. Will be provided after selection of concept/idea round.
IMPORTANT GUIDELINES TO BE OBSERVED : Don’t indiscriminately copy material from the web/internet or any other source. If you have to refer some prior published content, then do recognize its source and ensure that you do not copy more than 10% of the published work. However, quotes may be reproduced completely with the person’s name. Don’t create your concept/idea just by copying content from different sources. Ideally develop concept based on the intellect generated from your idea. If we found any concept/idea/abstract during plagiarism check/Report. It would be disqualified.
Faculty can only mentor the participants of the TECHgium® event. Not allowed to be a part during presentation rounds.
Faculty will be rewarded in the form of certificate for their participation (guiding the participants), if their team presents in the POC demonstration round.
No, faculty cant claim the prize money.
No, A faculty cannot submit their ideas/concept in the TECHgium® event, however they can mentor/guide the participants and also support/help to enhance the same.
